Reading about the healthcare debate from afar is hard to take, but probably better for my own health than actually being Stateside. Here’s where I gather we are so far: The right wing is avoiding issues and instead working to frame the debate as fascism vs. independence. They appear to have fooled people into thinking that the government will have something called “death panels”. Some idiot named Beck (not the musician) is stirring up like minded idiots and laughing all the way to the bank doing it. Kind of like Limbaugh, only hopped up on drugs. Oh, wait.
So, to sum up:
Good:
- Starting wars on two fronts; one of which has arguably left our nation in much great danger than it would have been otherwise.
- Authorising spying on US citizens
- Warrantless wiretaps
- Suspending habeas corpus
- Torturing unarmed prisoners
- Contracting with a CORPORATION to assassinate people (are you f’ng kidding me?)
- Illegally firing US DOJ prosecutors for political reasons
- Bringing high powered firearms to a Presidential appearance, you know, to protest.
Bad:
- Trying to fix health-care so sick people don’t have to die from treatable injuries or illnesses.
This has got to be either the fruit of too many years of too little funding for education or a successful foreign plot to splinter the US.
Well, that’s just depressing as hell. We now return you to our sporadic usual content.
